Channel 10 arrives!

Channel 10 on Foxtel

Our Foxtel service at home comes from the sky into a massive black dish on our roof (pardon the technical terms). We get exactly the same service as the cable customers except for a few free to air channels (plus ours doesn’t work when it rains heavily).

Last night we were browsing around our IQ and stumbled across a non-foxtel show. After closer inspection we discovered that Channel 10 is now showing up. This means instead of downloading all of this channel’s shows I want to see, I can now just set the IQ HDD recorder to grab them and have them waiting for me! No “series link” feature but it is still way better than nothing.

Now we’re just waiting on Channel 7 – we’re not that bothered though as we can’t think of a show they have, that we want to watch.

Facelift

chrisannable.comMy domain chrisannable.com hasn’t been used very much over the past couple of years, so I decided to give it a facelift. With the release of my New CD, I felt themed promotion would look a lot more professional.

The site is still very much under construction. It works better in Mozilla than Internet Explorer, but that’s mainly because Internet Explorer sucks. It is not yet database driven but the framework is very dynamic so it shouldn’t be too hard to upgrade. The code isn’t as ‘clean’ as Wendy would like, I haven’t indented it to James’ standards and I have been known to use breaks instead of proper margins and padding – but hey! It works and I like it ;-) .

Basically chrisannable.com is now an all-in-one site demonstrating everything I’m involved with, as I originally intended it to be.

Check it out!

Quote of the moment …

Chris says: “What’s a drink name starting with the letter ‘T’?”
Mel replies: “Um … Tea?”

629 shots

Seagull SunsetI gave my camera’s poor shutter a workout today when RXA, MrHoot and I had a Photography day down the Peninsula. It was a beautiful day, and a great way to get out into the fresh air for a bit of exercise.

I filled 2×2gb compact flash cards and 3/4 of a 1gb on top of that (shooting in RAW) – the most I have ever taken in a single day! I will be gradually uploading them over the next week or so to my Flickr page for all those who want to check them out. A good days shooting :-) .

By the way, in case anyone has forgotten …

CD Out Now!

Yours Truly - Chris Annable - CD Out Now!

Truly Proof!

New CD CoverToday during my lunch break I left work to go view a proof of my new CD cover. For my album, I have opted for a full package including clear Jewel cases (black looked OK but clear was way better), 2 paper inserts and printed CD-Rs.

I couldn’t believe what I saw when the product was handed to me! It looked so professional, and the cover worked exactly as planned. I opened up the front tray insert and it was beautiful. The text came up clear and sharp, and the colors all matched. It was a great feeling to get my hands on the final product of one years work.

I have since approved the final CD design for printing – it was just what I wanted. It is a perfect compliment to the music contained on the CD itself. Can’t wait to show everyone!

To 40D or not to 40D?

As a working musician, one of my goals every gig is to do the “one trip” set up / pack up. This means I will only need to make one trip from the car to the performance area with everything I’ll need for the show. All I was needing to accomplish this goal was case for my multi-effects pedal.

Pedal Box ClosedPedal Box OpenI went to Mel’s Dad with the idea and he was glad to help. We measured it all up and I left the pedal with him for around a week or so. When I returned to see the results, I couldn’t believe how cool it was! It was perfect! It was light weight, easy to carry and would protect the unit as well. It seems I couldn’t have helped him more by staying out of the way .

I can’t wait until my next gig and my “one trip” setup. It is within my grasp! Thanks Wayne :-)

My photo weekend just flu by

This past weekend I had three photography projects booked in. The first was pictures for a website I am designing. The second was promo shots of my Dads cover band Betterdays and the last was shots for a school production.

Josh from Pure IntentI made the first appointment and managed to get some great action shots. I didn’t enjoy the huge flight of stairs I had to climb up and down though. Especially when the people I was taking photographs of were doing it over and over. I need to go back to gym and get fit again :-(

Betterdays BandThe second appointment was fun. My Dad’s workplace has just put in a new PA and lighting system which he wanted me to get a handle on for his band’s performance. Once I did that, I grabbed out the good ol’ 350D and filled a 2gb card with promo shots that they could use. Here I really learned the value of a ‘bright’ lens.

I wasn’t able to make it to my third appointment as I was struck with a flu-like virus. I had been feeling awful all weekend but it didn’t really hit me until Saturday Night / Sunday morning. I have since been in bed trying to sleep it off – until now where I have dragged myself up using the power of Codral.

Up Late

This weekend Mel and I were more social than we have ever been. It seems married life may have awakened the single people in us. Friday night we met up with Richard and his partner to once again catch the awesome performance of Ricky Loca at Crown Casino. We followed that with our ritual visit to the “Big Wheel” where we doubled our money! (For once).

Saturday night, Mel and I were invited to a party. It was a farewell do for the bludger.org clan. They are leaving for a long trip overseas in less than a week. We had great fun playing Guitar Hero, Buzz and various Wii games on Mikes big TV (I call it his “wall of light”). Mel and I wish you all the best guys! Have an awesome trip!

Sunday we visited the Annable’s in their new house. They are still unpacking at the moment but it has been set up enough now too look like their home. It is double storey, it has heaps of rooms and I think I could successfully move in without them even realising! We can’t wait until summer now as they have a great size swimming pool and spa!! They are my new best friends :-)

Over all, quite a few late nights were had in a row and I have proof now that Mel can stay up past midnight!
