Johnny be very good!

New GuitarMy long awaited guitar has arrived, in time for my approaching 30th Birthday. I traded in my previous Fender Highway One Fender “Willy” for my new Sunburst John Mayer Artist series Fender Stratocaster “Johnson”.

It doesn’t magically improve my playing ability at all, but the sound this machine makes is far more rewarding. It seems to be the acoustic players electric. It has a thicker neck “C Shape” and the pickups are tweaked to cut out the mid-range – this is great for hammering out full chord voicings.

As you can see by the photo, my hand is still broken, but Mel and I managed to fashion a splint/bandage arrangement that enables me to practise. I can’t wait to crack this baby up full ball at my next Yours Truly Rehearsal!

A Digit Down

Broken ArmI am currently typing this post left handed as you may or may not know, I busted my hand this week. My right hand pinky to be precise. The smallest of my fingers, but important enough to land me in a full cast for a few weeks. This puts a damper on just about everything I do. With this cast on I currently can’t:

  • Drive
  • Play Guitar
  • Take Photos
  • Go to gym
  • Eat with a knife and fork

I have had to train myself to use a mouse, type, SMS and use remote controls left handed. The sooner this stupid thing comes off the better. From now on, I will make sure to take my brothers advice and KICK things in future.
