Top 10

Pop Rating
Thanks to everyone responding to an email I sent last week, my rating on the TripleJ unearthed site has skyrocketed! With the site receiving over 400 plays of my 2 songs, “One Sided” made it into the Top 10 for my genre! My second song “Ice Cold” had a mention at number 21.

Top 100
With your help “one Sided” has also made it into the overall Top 100! (for the week ending 18 March 2007). So I’d like to firstly thank everyone who has been making themselves sick of my songs by playing them repeatedly this past week, and secondly ask that you DO IT AGAIN!! And if you haven’t done it yet, join in so that I might make it to number 1 on at least the “Genre” charts. Just go to my TripleJ Unearthed page and play my songs in their jukebox.

I’d like to especially thank Mike for taking photos for me on the weekend. We managed to come up with some great shots for the CD cover/booklet. You’ll see the results of his great work when I update my original music website (www.chrisannable.com).

The ‘Bright’ Side of Life

View from Bright
On Friday, Mel and I met up with James, Richie and James’ Cousin Penelope to start our venture up to Bright. Richie (a coworker who I don’t think I’ve mentioned before) has access to his family’s holiday house and we were invited up for a weekend.

The trip up was 4 hours but the monotony was broken by the fun of chatting on the UHF Radios and typing on the Blackberries (once Richie had driven out of range). We arrived at around 11:30 to a beautiful house in what, at the time, seemed to be the middle of nowhere.

The next morning Mel woke before me and came back in the room with a shocked look on her face. Her astonishment inspired me to get up and have a look. The view (as pictured) from the front balcony was astonishing. We were in awe. Then we were surprised to see 3 or 4 Kangaroos out the back. Damn! Thought Chris – didn’t bring the 300mm lens for my camera!

We spent most of the first Day familiarising ourselves with Bright. The town, the river and the local brewery. We had some lunch, did some shopping then went back to the house for a BBQ and some wireless broadband internet browsing (thanks Dean!).

The second Day I woke up and decided to have a play on my guitar on the balcony, as mentioned on James’ blog. We decided to spend the day up at Hotham. We drove my poor Corolla (whilst chanting “I think I can”) up the mountain and were greeted by some more amazing views of the mountains. After lunch we headed back into Bright for a walk along the river where Mel (once again) found herself in the water. Later that night we came back to the house for dinner and I played my guitar for an all in, alcohol fueled, sing-a-long on the balcony (much to the neighbours disgust).

The last day I woke up sick. we have just recently established that it was probably not the alcohol, but the local tap water (that I stupidly drank regularly). Even now I am still feeling queezy and it is over 48 hours since I drank. I slept most of that day and at around 3pm we packed and cleaned everything up and then Mel drove me home.

Over all it was an absolutely awesome weekend and Mel and I want to thank Richie for letting us stay and James and Penelope for allowing us to crash their weekend away. View my gallery for a selection of photos.

Un-earthed!

YoursTRULYMany of you know, since September last year I have been working on an “originals” CD. I am glad to say that after 109 days of recording, mixing, re-recording, re-mixing and mastering, I have finished 11 tracks (44 minutes, 48 seconds of music).

The final product will contain some old songs that people know, some new stuff and not all 11 tracks will make it on. Most importantly I am happy with the outcome, which is rare for me. There are many people to thank for their help, but I will do so more appropriately later.

For a preview of what I’ve been up to, you can now hear 2 of my new recordings at my TripleJ – Unearthed site.

Here’s where YOU come in!

In order for my music to be noticed by the powers that be, I need to develop ratings. These are generated by people listening to the songs and leaving comments etc. I have never asked for support with my original music before, but if it’s going to go anywhere I need to start. Anyone who likes the stuff I do can help me out by registering on the TripleJ-Unearthed site and regularly playing my songs in the jukebox – as well as leaving comments and ratings. The songs can also be downloaded if you want to keep an MP3.

Rest assured this is not the only avenue I am taking with my music, but if I can get enough support behind be, it will be a huge help!
Thanks in advance!!
