As sung in John Mayers song “Vultures”: “Don’t Give up, give up …” and that advice certainly paid off tonight. John Mayer is finally in Melbourne and I found out only yesterday that he was playing at an Exclusive concert in “The Chapel” South Yarra. Determined as I am to catch as many shows as I can, I jumped in the car after work tonight and headed up there (Melissa in tow).
We got to the venue and asked a waitress “where do you go in“. She directed us. “We don’t have tickets, do you think we could still get a seat?“. She directed us the other way. “No way!” she said. “There’s already too many booked.” A staff member passed by, overheard our conversation and backed up what we were told, “not a chance!“.
Even so, I still headed inside to see who I could talk to. We spoke to the ticketing people in the venue who mostly told us the same thing, but said we could speak to two of the organisers – who said come back at around 8:15, but they’re not guaranteeing anything. In the end there was about 11 people who came without tickets and they eventually decided to let 8 through. Melissa and I were counted as 5 & 6 and lead in moments before the show began.
What a great show it was too! It was the full band and was filmed for the “Live at the Chapel” series. The show will air on the 5th of December on Channel 10 (11.15pm). I hate to think what I will look like. After the show we were treated to free food and alcohol courtesy of Vodafone. Bonus!! One of the staff we spoke to earlier came up to us and said “You got in? I don’t believe it!“.
Anyway, for now you can Check out our crappy mobile phone pics above. Now I just have to wait until Wednesday!
The trailer for the next season of 24 has been launched online here. It gives away a bit about the new plot. Something about America in jeapardy and there’s only “one man” who can save everyone. So predictable, but at the same time so very cool.
It looks fantastic and Mel and I can’t wait. The plan this year is to hold out watching it until they’re about 12 episodes in, but I doubt we’ll last that long. The next 24 hours starts January 2007. Go Jack!
Check out this latest VW commercial from the US! It comes with a free guitar that’s promo’ed by none other than … you guessed it … John Mayer. It has what I think every musicians car needs!

It’s been a while between posts. I don’t like doing that because I’ve started to use this website as a “What was I doing one year ago” tool. If I fail to post regularly I won’t be able to look back in 2007.
The last few weeks have been quiet but busy. My current lack of gigs has left me much loved time on the weekends but the recording process for my new album is keeping me sufficiently occupied (more on this down the track). Mel is working hard with her Part time job giving her more hours than a full time one. As a result of us both now working the house is getting back to it’s usual messy self. Oh well, we’ll get to it on the weekend!
Dad and I have finally got our duo promo material up and running, with the new domain gen2music.com and our CD demo. I look forward to getting some work with him, it will be a nice change to kick back into performing with someone and not solo.
Work has been non stop with buildings going up left right and center. One highlight has been the new CCTV security cameras they’ve just installed. Now, not only can we monitor and search through recorded footage from any PC in the school, just today we have access to view any of them wirelessly on our pocket PCs!
By the way, 1 year ago today I was in Queensland … ho hum.
