My Life.
I have finally seen the much awaited Superman Returns movie I’ve been looking forward to for the last 10 or so years. I booked our Gold Class tickets early, so Mel and I had perfect seats in the Karingal cinemas.
After we worked out our food orders, and got through the wierd previews (some crappy movies coming) we were introduced to the movie through the traditional style of the orignal films. The opening credit’s text would woosh in and out just like the 1970’s ones, over the John Williams theme. Nice touch. They also managed to simulate the traditional Christopher Reeve “space” ending as well.
We shall start with the bad. The acting let this movie down big time. No one seemed to be talking, walking or reacting naturally, everything seemed extremely forced. On the other hand, the story, the special effects, the costumes and the sets were all amazing.
The lead was played by Brandon Routh. Once I settled with his style of Superman, I found him to be a great choice for the role. Like Reeve, he was a relativley onknown actor until this movie. Kevin Spacey played the role of Lex Luthor perfectly, as we expected he would. Jimmy Olsen was entertaining and the rest … no comment.
Over all a great movie that I will be seeing again. Hopefully we won’t be surrounded by grown men in capes next time.
Last week was my week off work. Not just my IT job, but a much needed break from music as well. Mel and I started the time by celebrating her Birthday with friends and family and then just basically staying out of trouble for the remainder. Mel went to a few Bridal expos, visited her family, went shpping etc.. and I just did a lot of activities that invlolved staying home looking at various screens (TV, PSP, PC …). It was very restful and gave me a good recharge for the rest of the year.
Now I’m back at work and everyone else is on leave. Hopefully the network will hold itself together for a few days. Ooh, by the way, check out my new phone!
Saturday Mel and I decided to battle the crowds of kids and sneak in a movie before my gig that night. I’ve been keen to see the movie “Cars” since I heard it was coming out over a year ago.
This latest addition from the company that brought us Nemo and Monsters Inc. won’t let you down. Mel and I were thoroughly entertained from start to end. The animation was breathtaking in spots (we swore some things looked real) and the story line was for kids but still extremely entertaining for grown-up kids like me
. To top it off it ended with a John Mayer version of route 66 that I was not aware about until it started playing during the credits (great guess by me 10 second into it!).
Over all – worth seeing for anyone who enjoyed the other Pixar flicks.
