Too much TV!

Last night Mel and I decided to try and catch up on some of the TV we’ve had waiting. We’ve been getting behind and all the shows have been piling up! Whilst watching the latest House last night on the Xbox, we were dismayed to see both the Foxtel IQ and our HDD/DVD Recorder both with their Red recording lights active. So whilst we were attempting to catch up, our devices were recording twice as much for us to view later. When will it end!?! … Hopefully never ;-)

The ring!

Last weekend Mel and I have spent a lot of our time driving all over the Peninsula announcing our Engagement! After 5 and a half years of great times (it wasn’t bad for me either!), Mel agreed to take the next step with me. You’ll have about 18 months to talk some sense into her as the ceremony won’t be happening until next year.

Thankyou to everyone who has passed on their well wishes and congratulations. The support from our friends and family has been wonderful.

Time Off

At the moment I’m sitting in my “Karate Bear” PJs, watching mind numbing TV. I am really enjoying my time away from work. Although I am one step away from watching Oprah and Dr. Phil, I’ll have to be careful.

Easter Camp 06I started my break almost immediately by heading off to Glen Cromie for our annual Easter camp. Thanks to the new tent-pole system set by Mel’s parents, we got our tent up in record time – and in the dark! We spent 4 night there 3 of which were very cold and very wet. Oh well, it was all with good friends and family so ultimately it was a great time. I learnt many new games including 2 new card games and a couple of board games that I played with my Dad. On the way back we went to visit the latest addition to the ever growing “Pettigrew Family”, Joel. Congratulations Dean and Deb!

A lot of time last week has been spent helping Mel apply for new work. She has had some extremely tricky applications to submit and we had a lot of trouble getting them in by the due date. Hopefully she gets some interviews (fingers crossed!).

Saturday we went and had a dinner party at Michael and Justines. Or as I called it “Cuisine de Justine“. We were served some very delicious food, the most memorable being Justines patented Chocolate Explosion for desert! The disclaimer says you should only eat the chocolatley goodness directly before or during 3 hours of exercise!!

Sunday I once again lent my skills to High Street Church by playing bass at both their morning and evening services. This is great for sight reading practise and is a nice change from my usual solo gigs.

That brings us back to now. I still have my PJs on at 2pm, Mels getting ready to go out so I better sign off. The biggest news is to follow!

Little Light Blue Star!

My eBay rating has now reached a century. Hot at my heels was James with his never ending supply of SATA cables for sale, but I managed to come through with a few quick purchases near the end.

Of course this could all change after I file some Non-paying bidder disputes over my unpaid items. Lets hope it doesn’t land me back with dark blue star from negative feedback.

iPod TV Show

I caved in and bought myself a Video iPod recently. I wasn’t keen on them until I saw my brother’s in action. It works perfectly with my Mac, synchronising my music, my photo albums, my calander, my contacts, my movies and now my TV SHOWS!

I am a big Tv Series collector now, trying to get my hands on anything and everything. I was dissapointed to learn that I couldn’t sort my video files properly on the iPod Video, and had to dump them all messily under the “movies” menu. This worked, but made it hard to find what you wanted quickly.

With more research I discovered that the “TV Show” part of itunes has been reserved for the up and coming addition to the iTunes music store, that enables people to download their favourite shows to their ipods. This didn’t help me with the shows I had already so I was lucky enough to discover a little program called “iPodTVShow“.

This progam acts as a front end for an executable named “AtomicParsley“, designed to add the appropriate Meta-data to video files to sort them in the “TV Show” menu. It is a little cumbersome to use, but once you get it done, it comes up perfectly sorted. I can now go in and select the show I want – then the season – then the episode.

It makes me wonder why iTunes doesn’t enable this, but at least I have something solid to use while the debate goes on.
