3 show tour

This past weekend was a very full plate for me. I (or should I say YoursTRULY) performed 3 gigs over the last three days.

Friday night I played at the infamous Geensborough hotel. I tried out my newly purchased backings and all went down surprisingly well. Mel came along to help me out and keep me from getting too bored in the breaks. Everything was fine pretty much until we packed up and I got sick with a very severe migraine (not from alcohol – I dont drink at gigs) and once we got into the car I found a parking ticket waiting on my windsheild. Nice.

Saturday night I played at Highways in Noble Park. The Dromana Annables came along and cheered me on. I enjoy the quieter gigs, I get to pull out my jazz/blues numbers combined with good wholesome acoustic pop numbers. We enjoyed dinner (allbeit at different times) and they all helped me pack the car. Ahhhh… a roadcrew! Mel and I decided to stick around and have a bash at the pokies inside the venue. Good thing we did, because I ended up winning enough to pay off the parking ticket I got Friday night!

Sunday I was on my own. The gig was at San Remo (opposite Phillip island). Awesome gig, unfortuantely I was a little too tired to enjoy it fully. great atmosphere, appreciative audience who are open to all musical styles. This allowed me to play what I enjoyed, rather than what I felt would go down well. It was in the afternoon, so I got home at a decent hour.

Now I’m back at work! *SIGH*

The Fashion Capital

Mel and I decided to do our thursday night late shopping at Chadstone last night. We don’t go there very often and our main motive was the Apple Store, but we soon found lots of extra places to visit.

We started out with a meal at the Pancake Parlour – YUM! And then went to the Borders store opposite. I was very dissapointed to see (after all the hype) barely any books and mainly DVDs. “I this it?” I commented. I quickly swallowed those words as I followed the escalators up the other 2 levels. I had a look in the Computer section for some PHP MySql references and had a look at their “Texas Hold’em” display.

We enjoyed the Apple Store, but I was dissapointed to find out my Education discount doesn’t apply instore anymore. We ooohh’ed and ahhh’ed over the gadgets a little more and decided it would be best if I left before I spent money. Mel was particularly keen on the “Build a Bear” workshop they were advertising but she was dissapointed to find out that it wasn’t open yet.

After picking up a great “Casio Quality” (spelling mistake on the box) Poker set from K-Mart (Mel and I are really keen on poker at the moment), we decided it was time to head home. Man that place is huge! My theory is that it is the Fashion Capital because, after you’ve navigated the place for an hour or so, you lose so much weight you can fit into a smaller size outfit. I guess it was good for working off those pancakes ;-)
