Tha Orrfarce

Monday night Mel and I watched the first episode of the US version of “The Office”. It basically had exactly the same script but all the jokes were made so that the Yanks would get them. Obviously there is a new cast and I would have to say that Ricky Gervais is irreplacable, but they havent done too badly with their selection.

Still not the same though. No match for the original.

The Long Weekend was Intense!

Our TentIn – Tents .. get it? … Oh well. Melissa and I went camping over Easter with my family and a few other groups from Frankston Uniting Church. We arrived at Glen Cromie camping Grounds (Drouin – Noojee area) on Friday afternoon and set up our tent and air matresses, ready for the adventures.

Friday night was one of the coldest for everyone there. When checking the temperatures online recently, Mel found out that a neighbouring town got down to 0.9 degrees! Needless to say it was a sleepless night for most of us shivering in our tents.

Saturday, Mel and I were called to judge their traditional Pancake making contest. Make no mistake, these people take the quality of their pancakes quite seriously and will go to great lengths to beat their opposing families! We barely survived after passing out our cruel but fair scores. We figured a draw would be the safest result for all concerned.

WaterfallsThat afternoon we went on a bushwalk to the Tooronga Falls. There is nothing like a 1 hour nature walk to remind you of how unfit you have become over the years. the walk wasn’t even that difficult, but I was puffing none the less. It was all very beatiful and Melissa and I took plenty of pictures.

Saturday night, everyone pulled out their guitars for a jam. My dad brought out his keyboard and his 60s somgbook and we were away. It sounded like crap but it was fun none the less.

Easter ServiceSunday was a Choc-fest for all the kids on site. for breakfast most of them were rotting their teeth to honeycomb and smarties. Mel and I were happy to have had a better nights sleep and enjoyed our morning coffee by the fire. Others arrived and we headed into the bush for the Contemporatry Easter service.

The afternoon was people mainly entertaining themselves. Melissa went to an Arts and Crafts thing and Dad and I had our Chess re-match (I am still undefeated!). My younger sister Catherine dobbed us in to play Botchee (not sure how to spell it). This was a bowls like game which involved throwing a weighted ball towards a jack, trying to make it land as close as you can.

Monday morning was relax then pack up. Melissa and I had a great time and now that we actually own a good tent, we plan on doing much more camping in future.

RPG Overload!

After much nagging from James and perusing the World of Warcraft site, I thought to myself “that looks like fun, I should sign up!”. 2 seconds later I realised that to sign up for my 3rd symultaneous MMORPG would be insane – not to mention the $$$.

Me, Ghost and NiobeI’ve been spending a lot of my online gaming time this week setting my character up on “The Matrix Online”. Gotta get a jump on the non pre-order people while I still can. I have got my character to lvl 6 and will one day learn how to make “Moonlite” fire a gun and actually hit something. I met my first movie character in the game. A mission lead me to meet Niobe and Ghost (from Enter the Matrix) and hear a recording from Commander Lock.

My time in the Matrix, combined with my early nights, have been making me neglect my heroes in Paragon (sorry David!). City of Heroes is by far one of my favourite games ever – I guess I’m just going to have to learn not to sleep anymore. This Easter weekend I am going soft-core (caravan park) camping with Melissa. I am just going to have to work out how to get a DSL link working from my tent!

The end is only the Beginning

The MxO BETA has officially ended in preparation for the March 22 full version launch. Being a BETA tester, I am able to log in 3 days earlier to establish my character. I have run into some fellow Aussies and will soon be a part of their faction. I look forward to seeing how the storyline will develope. The Matrix is one of my favourite concepts, a perfect idea for a MMORPG. I’ve been waiting since last November! Now I finally get to take my Red Pill ;-)

I let the dogs out, me-me-me-me-me! … sorry.

Construction

This week I have been doing a lot of building. Not in the manly useful sense, more in the geeky gadget way.

I have started work on Marions new website. She needs some advertising to promote herself for more overseas work, and I always welcome a new website creating challenge. I have also taken it upon myself to update the Betterdays website, presenting everything a little bit more smoothly. Both will be online shortly. Next up will be my blog (again!). Wordpress 1.5 has stacks of cool feature updates :-)

At work, I have been spending my days pulling one of our old and dustly servers apart and building a new fancy one out of a desktop we had spare. Our old server was down to transmitting data at less than 1mb a minute. After further investigation I found it was only a Pentium II 333.

If only I new how to service my car, I’d be set!

List of Demands

Melissa spends a good 15-30 minutes at the end of the day being audience to the lives of all you bloggers out there. She has been a loyal reader for months now but is dissapointed to find she must wait for certain items to get back on track.
The following list of demands was submitted to me this afternoon:
(via much nagging!!)

- Dean,
you must get your blog back online WITH RECENT PHOTOS OF THE BABY!
- James,
you must fix your gallery and submit photos of your recent holiday.
- David,
you must submit an entry at least once a week!
- Richard,
a little less geek talk and a little bit more on Matthew.

Michael scored the highest points, updating regularly with interesting articles and reviews.

All this from someone who refuses to have a blog of her own! ;-)

Better Days Tour

The final stop on their 2 show tour of the Mornington Peninsula, saw the blokes from Better Days playing in Rosebud. They were in the line up to play for a 24 hour charity walk to help with cancer.

Melissa and I decided to go down that way for the afternoon. We saw the movie “Hitch” first. I would rate it as harmless, entertaining, funny, but no epic. Definately a Melissa type of movie, all it was missing was an airport!

After that we headed over to the Village Green to catch an hour of classic Rock and Roll. Their getting better! Their bass player was a definite improvement from last week ;-)
