Yesterday I strapped on a bass guitar to do my bit for the tsunami appeal. The Moorooduc Coolstores were holding an all day bands festival in support of the charity and my Dad’s band BetterDays was on the line up. I filled in for their usual bass player Barry and had a lot of fun doing so.
All songs from the 50s to the 70s have a charm about them which makes them timeless. For a non-bass player like myself, I found them to be simple over-all but still challenging enough to make my fingers sore at the end.
My Dad complained about the volume of the younger bands, at least I think he was complaing – it was hard to hear (boom boom!). It is a shame I didn’t sign up M00NL(GHT – it would have been a great opportunity for Marion and I to start up again.
In the end, a good day out for all

Some people will probably raise my geek status a few notches, but I have to say I am a big fan of the Buffy/Angel series’. The Season 5 boxsets of Angel came out today which completes my entire set – including Seasons 1-7 of Buffy and the 2 Xbox games. If you haven’t seen any yet, I really think you should give them a go. Keep the following in mind: the first Seaon of both shows is really slow to get moving.
From season 2 onward, the continuing story lines take off (like with most TV series). On one side you have a really unique dark edged theme and on the other, some really good humour -not to mention the fighting choreography is really entertaining. Also, the well written storylines allow for a few crossovers to happen, which make up some of the best episodes.
Well that was my little review for the week, just thought I’d share. On another note, when I was purchasing the boxsets, I noticed JB Hifi are starting to sell PS2 games. Like you need ANOTHER reason to shop there!
Last night I rehearsed with my Dads cover band “Better Days“. Their bass player cannot make it to a gig this Sunday so I am filling in. There’s nothing more fun then playing an hours worth of 60s classics – and that’s not sarcasm! We had a lot of fun and I am looking forward to our Gig this Sunday. At least this time I got to practice a little.
I will be uploading their new website tonight so you can check out what they are all about.
Welcome Back Marion!
The better half of M00NL(GHT has returned to Australian civilisation and came to visit us on Saturday. It was really good to see her and catch up on all she has been up to overseas. Although (as per usual) I think I talked too much about what I’d been up to. Oh well.
She will only be in town until she gets another contract somewhere else overseas. But we will still be getting the duo work back up and running in the meantime. Stay tuned for the “New and Improved” M00NL(GHT Duo

I upgraded my phone this weekend. It has been 2 years since I got my Sony Ericsson T610, which is now about 4 phones ago. I got one of the funky new I-Mate JAM PPC Phones (also known as an 02 XDAII MINI).
It’s just come onto the market and it is great! It is not much bigger than my Nokia 6600 but has all the functionality of a Phone and a Pocket PC in one unit. It also has a 1.3 mega pixel camera and is now loaded with a crap load of Pop-Cap games
Another busy weekend for Melissa and me. We started it once again with our (now weekly) wrestle with Radio Rentals. After 4 months we have finally pulled the purchase price for our fridge and dryer out of them. But just before we got to pay them, they told us we now have to give 30 days notice. Nice work. I wonder what part of “We want to buy these items” (we said 4 months ago) they didn’t understand.
Their motives are obvious, they want us to pay more rent. But I will be taking matters a lot further if they screw us around any more! Grrr …

I was mucking around with one of my PCs that has XP – Media Center Edition on it. I set it up with my SB Live Platinum (with the Live Drive at the front). This comes with the creative RM-900 infra-red remote control. Don’t ask me why, but I decided to check to see if it felt like working, as it typically never did with Windows 2000 or XP.
Not only did it recognise the remote, but Media Center can be controlled with it also. Hah! Saved myself $90 by not needing to get one of the Microsoft ones!

My Webcam is back up now and intergrated into the site.
There is a link on the menu bar to the left or you can simply go to – webcam.ytruly.net
Depending on various networking issues, it may or may not stay online.
I am also trying to find a more interesting spot to point it at.
