Gadget Graveyard

This weekend all I seem to remember doing is lifting stuff from one place to another. What’s with me and all this manly labour?

Saturday, Melissa and I had to re-organise our enertainment center to make room for new toys :-) . This involves lifting the heavy cabinet and crawling through a “spaghetti” of cables. All is set up exacly how we wanted now. We don’t even have to get out of our chairs to get everything going. Now I want to get macros going on my multi-brand remote because pushing any more than one button is just too much effort!

Sunday we decided to give our “LUG” it’s anual cleanout. It’s amazing how much crap you can hoard in one year. Our backyard is now like a gadget graveyard, full of old amps and pcs that just didn’t make the cut. The wonderful monitor boxes from work have perfectly stacked the crap I’m keeping in the corner and we now don’t have to crawl our way through.

A job well done!

Space

You know things are bad when you have to go and buy some of the TV series you have downloaded, on DVD. All just to free up some Hard Drive Space to download more. 300gb just isn’t enough any more :-( .

Search and Destroy

I just realised recently the “Search” function on my menu wasn’t working properly. I think I stuffed it whilst clumsily trying to make it look a little better. I’ve fixed it now so search away!

Weeds, Bugs, Boxes and Chilis

Mel and I have used our Australia day off to do some work in the Garden. We think once every 2 years sounds reasonable. The weeds were growing up to our armpits and bugs were beginning to take up residence.

So, armed with our new whipper snipper and Bug Spray, we declared war on all things living out our door. View Below:

We came across some interesting things along the way:

Huge Spider
This Spider managed to scare the crap out of us. R.I.P. Spidey.

Our Chili PlantOur Chilis
Our Phantom Chili Plant that came from nowhere, is still going strong.

We’ve just got to poison the weeds and do a surface bug spray and we’ll be able to use the area again. I’m not cut out for all this manly labour work though. Lucky I’ve got Mel ;-)

Over Easy

Mel and I had a nice weekend, free of timetables and obligations. We spent much of our time pottering around the house – which included cleaning up the mountainloads of cat hair that our animal can amazingly produce. Mel wanted to get the vacuum and go directly to Jessie, the source of the problem.

I spent my time defending the citizens of Zion from my desk chair, through the Mxo Beta that I am FINALLY a part of. Great game, not allowed to say much else though. It is due for release this autumn.

Sunday we were awoken by my Dad in desperate need of a computer for a church multimedia thing my little brother was putting on. As those people who have visited my house know, he came to the right place. We agreed afterward to meet them down at the Dromana later in the day.

Once again my visit down there involved some IT tech work. I am never asked to do anything but for some reason I have made it my mission to keep my family technologically up to date. I got a 20gb Hard Drive as payment for a job earlier in the week, which was just what they needed in their family computer.

We also payed a rare visit to the beach which I really enjoyed. Melissa and I ended up a little Medium Rare and can now be seen glowing red in the dark. Oh well, we deserve a Slip-Slop-Slap in the face for not taking better care.

Well that’s it for now, back to the land of boxes and imaging.

RICKY LOCA

This afternoon I went over to have a chat to my good friend Anthony. I needed to pick his brains about agencies and band promoters and the like. As a you may have seen on this site I am looking to get some music work playing acoustic guitar and singing.

Anthony has had plenty of experience with booking agencies with his current covers band RICKY LOCA who have played all over Victoria for the last 5 years. If you haven’t seen this band – go and check them out! They often play at places like the Mercury Lounge at Crown. They have a great songlist and put on one hell of a show. Anthony gave me a look at copy of their new promotional material – it is unbelivable! These guys have been going from strength to strength ever since I met Anthony in 2000, and are still looking to go even further!

FYI – I had the pleasure of doing a gig with them a couple of years back – filling in for Anthony playing keyboards. They are top players, great people and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

sPEED OFF!

I was very pee’d off to find out toay that the area I got fined for speeding in 3 months ago, has had its limit raised. I was booked heavily for doing 84 in a 60 zone whcih today would have been only 4km over the new 80km limit!!

To spice things up they’ve reduced the nearby 100km limit to 90km – you can’t tell me they’re not revenue raising!
Grumble Grumble … :-(
