Today I am reovering from my marathon effort yesterday. Myself, David, Michael and Tim set out on a long 12 hour journey across “Middle Earth” through the adventures of the “Lord of the Rings” – Extended editions. The time seemed to go by very quickly, as we only stopped for the delicious Hot Dogs Mel was kind enough to make for us.
No one need worry, thanks to me (and the other athletes) Middle Earth is again safe from the powers of the “One Ring”!

Last Night we had Melissa’s work party. We picked up (new Mum!) Talara and drove down to “Strike Bowling” located in Frankston’s new Entertainment Complex. Great Place – It was like a nightclub with bowling. Full of loud music and neon lights.
We got served our mini meals of Mini Burgers, Mini Hot Dogs, Mini Dim Sims and Mini Spring Rolls and then headed to face the pins. I wish I could blame the alcohol for my lack of bowling skills, but my average strike rate of 3 pins per round was purely the result of my lack of talent. I guess I can cross off a career in bowling from my list.
Over all a great night, Mel and Talara really enjoyed themselves.
Armed with 2 matons, Richard and I set out to entertain the masses last Saturday night. I set up the PA and my new sparkly lights and we played on and off from 6:30 – 12:30.
We performed beside the comedian “Bruno Lucia” who apparently was in a sitcom in the 90s.
In the end our employers were extremely happy with our show. A few people asked for cards, so this may not be the last you see/hear of “Serendipity Music Duo”.
Dean has been away from work this week, giving me a good chance to settle into my role as “Self Appointed Deputy Manager”. This position doesn’t give me any authority, or any kind of pay rise – it’s just a title I’ve given myself.
Everything seems to be going ok so far but I have a bad habit of seeking my co-workers approval by sending them home early. If they took me seriously, by 9am I’d be working on my own for the rest of the day. Oh well, At least I get to sit on Dean’s big purple work chair!
Hmmm … I think I’ll make a badge

Tonight, Melissa and I took a rare trip into the city to see a live concert. Tommy Emmanuel lives in the US now, so his performances in Australia are becoming rarer by the year. I have missed his last 2 tours due to having gigs of my own but was glad I made it to this one. Richard met us in the foyer with his “VIP” pass stuck on his shirt. For more info on that check out his blog.
Tommy put on a 2 1/2 hour non-stop musical evening that left everyone in the audience chanting for more. His mixture of virtuoso playing and a humorously cheeky personality makes him a brilliant entertainer. He “slapped his plank ” to tunes old and new, doing some great Beatles covers and even Peter Allan got a mention.

The PA was huge, creating a massive sound reminiscent of a full band. Tommy set his amp to “destroy” (as he called it) for his feature number Initiation – which blew everyone away. He featured some up and coming performers throughout the night who were amazing also.
I came away from the night thoroughly entertained, with a signed ticket, a signed DVD and a photo!

As I mentioned in a previous post, Kevin and Craig went overseas to Europe. I’m glad to let you know they have arrived back home safe and sound, stocked up with a books worth of stories to tell.
Now after hearing theirs, Marions, Mel’s, Ryans and my Mum’s stories – I think I should start thinking about a trip of my own. Maybe somewhere outside of Melbournes South Eastern Metropolitan area.
As our 1st (and possibly last) gig draws closer, Richard and I have been frantically rehersing our set to an almost listenable standard. We recorded a couple of numbers and I have uploaded one for everyone to hear:

Please be aware that this is very rushed and was recorded directly out of our PA. We hope to release a professional demo soon.
Enjoy!
