Anyone for GMail?

Mel and I have heaps of invites to give away for Google’s new Email service Gmail. It offers a free online webmail service with a huge 1gb of storage space. If anyone wants one let me know!

Arrgh … More Power!

I tell you what, put a drill in my hand and I reckon could put any pre-designed, IKEA style piece of Home furniture together. This past weekend saw me putting together my new desk and Mel’s new Bookcase. For a while there you would have mistaken me for a real man!

Melissa and I have now completely changed our loungeroom furniture. We have a new suite, bookcase and desk. I’ve put away the drumkit and posters and after purchasing a new 8-port switch (that now makes 4 in our house) and a KVM switch, I was better able to organise the logistics of my home network. My cat “Jessie” is freaking out because he thinks we’re moving again.

Thanks to Dad for helping bring the bookcase home on Sunday and help put it together. Hope your thumb’s OK! Surprisingly enough, we managed to fit the boxs for my new corner style desk into the Corolla on Saturday arvo. I swear, put the seats down and it’ll hold anything – just like those clown cars at the circus!

That’s enough of being a man for now. Next time, I wanna get a tool belt!

Yesterday, Last Night, Today, Tomorrow

Yesterday – in light of our new look lounge area- I decided to finally take the drumkit apart and put it away. It has been sitting near our kitchen for a while now, and I have hesistated to take it apart due to my lack of knowledge on how to put it back together. I’m sure my brother could give us a hand, need be – rumour has it, he’s played drums once or twice before. As fun as it was having the kit right in our living area, I rarely am around at an appropriate time to practice so it was just getting in the way and gathering dust. I do hate our neighbours but not that much.

Last night Mum and David came over to check out Melissa. (That joke still makes me laugh!) Of course, I am talking about our wonderful new recliner package suite. We made them a nice mexican meal of Tacos! Mel helped! Well when I say helped, she did whatever was left after my contribution. And it just so happens that my contribution last night involved staying out of Mel’s way.

Today, for the first time, I was complimented on my new windows 2000 image! Whoa! It must be good if someone actually mentions what’s working, and not just what isn’t working. Although they did follow with “the printer isn’t defaulting properly”, oh well. I am expecting a nice relaxing, dull day here at Berwickland Hairybelly. My manager Dean will be coming out soon so we’ll have to get down to business. Rayman isn’t going to get to level 7 by himself! (I’m kidding!) We have our usual LT meeting then we’ll take our 4 hour lunch break (kidding again!). I am jealous because MrHoot is home today racking up the levels in CoH. Once again I’ll be miles behind and will have to play catchup.

Tomorrow, I am happy to say, sees me doing very little. I used to take pride in how busy my schedule was. Now, nothing sounds really good! My lack of gigs has me relaxing most weekends. Mel is still working Saturday mornings so we’ll probably go bookshelf shopping tomorrow afternoon. Man, doesn’t that sound all grown up? I’ll have to pop into EB just to retain my immaturity! Damn! I just remembered that I want to clean out the shed tomorrow, and fix my desk, and clean my room, do some washing – oh there goes all that free time. It was good while it lasted.

Yuck!

One of the staff here pointed me to a rather disturbing site. Apparently you can “virtually” disect a frog on the internet now. Ewww…

Our new Couch “Melissa”

Two burley blokes laid Melissa on our loungeroom floor yesterday afternoon. Hang on, that didn’t sound too good! OUR COUCH HAS ARRIVED!

Mel (the person) and I sat on our new Melissa (the couch) last night and watched a movie “30 something”. Mel and I were both quoted as saying “Ahhhhhh ….”. I would put some pictures up but I figure if anybody wants to see them, you can come and visit!

You know where we live. Just let yourselves in, because we most likely wont want to get up ;-)

Tuesday

My day at the Keysborough campus. I use to call it “Web Design” Tuesday until James decided to re-timetable himself to Wednesday. It also used to involve 30 or so trips to the Visual Arts building to re-plug in a mouse, or keyboard. Today … very little.

This Morning Mel and I got some invites for “GMail” and I handed one on to Andrew to make him a part of our Elite club of WebMailers. We haven’t decided where to send Mel’s yet – we do accept bribes!

I helped Dean with his StarBlog entry. He has now got a streaming ultrasound video of his little unborn “JellyBean” as he calls it. He still has to put up something about his new NGage QD. Which I played a bit today too. The game Rayman requires the ability to key in Diagonals but the 6600 joystick only points NESW. So I get stuck whenever I need to crawl :-(

So anyways, given my current state I headed to my brothers blog because I was BoredStupid.

Posted a package for eBay

… waited patiently for my new Router to arrive … and it did!

Then I’ll undoubtedly go home and play some more CoH. Not before re-arranging our whole loungeroom for the new furniture!

The phone just rang then, it was (you guessed it!) Visual Arts. I’ll update this post if my day gets any more exciting.

Moving out the Couch

Sit on Melissa

Yesterday the couch hunting adventure continued for Mel and myself. This time it took us up to Cheltenham “Furniture Plus” opposite Southland (I think it was Furniture Plus – correct me if I’m wrong, Mel!). Still bitter from our last encouter with Furniture salesmen down Frankston-Dandy Rd, we weren’t going to take any prisoners today.

We have been looking for a recliner package – 2 recliners and a 3 seater couch. We were quite happy with their selection. Each couch had it’s own name and it came down to 2 choices in the end. A lovely cushy Blue fluffy thing, called “Kylie”, and a less fluffy more roomy, cosy design, called “Melissa”. Seeing as how “Kylie” happened to be the name of my ex-girlfriend, and seeing as how Mel knew this fact, I think you know which couch I steered towards very quickly. As comfy as the other may have been, I can’t help feeling that if I had chosen “Kylie” over “Melissa”, my brand new couch would have also been my brand new bed!

After my going over-board with “sitting on Melissa” jokes, we eventually took the plunge and purchased it there and then. It gets delivered this Wednesday so there will be losts of furniture re-arranging at our place over the next few days. Always exhausting work, given the amount of gadgets I have, but this time I have the comfort of knowing that at the end I’ll able to relax on top of “Melissa”.

Like Riding a Bike

Tonight I played a Gig with Marion for the First time in months. It was a 50th Birthday Party for one of her rellies at a Golf Club in Sth Clayton. It was a very nice venue, quite upperclass, and I bet I looked great in my long sleeve top and jeans.

I was a bit worried about how we would go after not playing for so long but, as usual, we got back into the swing of things very quickly. We have done so many Gigs now that it is becoming second nature. We get there, we set up, we play 3-4 sets, we pack up, we go! Oh yeah, we get paid too!! (most important!)

Marion is now rehersing with an international band to go and play out East somewhere overseas this coming November. We will definately keep in touch but she will be missed! The band’s website is: www.superkatz.net

Under Control

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been desperately trying to put my newly learned Novell skills to good use. My aim was to get all computers, here at Berwickland Hairybelly, obeying policies that can be set (and unset) from the server when needed. Novells Zenworks is supposedly very good at this and I finally seem to be getting closer to global control. Muah ha ha!!

The changing of OS’s from WinXP back to 2k (SP4) has been a big help. I don’t know about all the other techies out there but XP was really starting to *INSERT PREFERRED PROFANITY HERE* – me up the wall!! It has also turned out to be a great time saver because in the past I had to make changes to the image manually – and then re deploy it to every machine. Now it will be, quite literally, a click of the mouse! I am drunk with power now! – Net goes on … net goes off … net goes on … :-P

Happy Birthday Scott!

My younger brother Scott turned 3 years old this past weekend! Oh, I mean 13! OMG – he’s a teenager! Where does the time go?

On Saturday I took it upon myself to organise a party for him. Let me see … what would a 13 year old want to do for entertainment … who do I know that thinks like a 13 year old … oh, me! I put on a “Big Screen” projector gaming/movie type afternoon for him and his buddies and they had a ball! We had an Xbox, Playstation2 and a Gamecube all set up and they were rotating between them all. My newly purchased “Eye Toy” was a big hit and it was fun watching them all exhaust themselves jumping around like idiots.

My Step-mum Jackie kept the lollies and chips coming, and after their dinner of Pizza, Coke and Cake, everyone settled to watch the Shrek 2 DVD on the Big Screen. Very successful party in my book and I hope Scott enjoyed himself. Mel and I should take this thing on the road!
