My flabby lack of fitness aside, I am referring to the copious amount of Cold and Flu medication pumping through me at present. No to mention all the anti-migraine chemicals as well – you’d think I’d feel almost euphoric! I probably wouldn’t pass one of those sports drug tests three weeks from now. In fact I don’t think anyone standing near me would either. There’s a good joke about that I’ll tell you after**
Once again I seem to have fallen victim to one of those horrible virus’s which everyone says is “going around”. There’s always something “going around” isn’t there. I should take comfort in that though, I wouldn’t want to get something that is described as “foreign”. at the moment I got the works, cough, blocked nose you name it! Soldier that I am though, I’ve still been going to work – what a dedicated staff member I am. There is one up side to all this – sympathy. Mel has been absolutely wonderful taking care of me these past few days and she is the absolute best at feigning sympathy. And when it comes to sympathy – fake or not – I’ll take it! Thanks Mel
**What’s the difference between Michael Jackson and an Olympic cyclist?
- Nothing … both their quads were made using a syringe!
That’s right, I’d forget my own head if it wasn’t. Um … what was I talking about? oh yeah! I have had the most forgetful week of my life this week (that I can remember anyway). For some reason I have been required to carry a lot of documents to various meetings and appointmnts recently. Unfortunately in the mornings my brain can’t really focus on what’s past breakfast – it’s hard enough working out what day it is!
It all started with my Tax yesterday. I marched into the office very keen to show my accountant how organised I was this year. Everything was filed and clipped and I even had my entire tax file from last year organised. She then said “Great to see, now let’s get started. Can I see your group certificates”. For the first time in my life I only had one group certificate to process and – you guessed it – with my devine, new found organisational skills, I had left it at home.
Then again today I have a very important meeting with my manager’s manager. Apparently asking in the form of a “memo” doesn’t have the desired effect on my brain. I am currently staring at the document that I was given over a week ago and repeatedly reading the line “please bring all necessary documentation”. Oops!
There is most likely a third incident but – that’s right! – I can’t remember
Brain, what are you trying to do do me?? You make me forget all these things and then forget that I had ever forgotten them. I guess I’m just too easily distracted … ooh biscuits – gotta go!
UPDATE:
My meeting wasn’t today, it’s next Wednesday
“Forgiveness is between them and God, it’s up to me to arrange the meeting. ”
-Denzel Washington (Man on Fire)
“Fear me, if you dare! ” – PIB (Shrek 2)
This weekend I signed up for my first ever RPG online game. This usually isn’t my thing but when I saw the game “City of Heroes” I just couldn’t resist. My friend David (MrHoot) has talked about it on his blog and I watched him play a little Friday night. After about 10 seconds I was sold!
I hopped online the next day and ordered myself a copy from the US. It’s handy because, for people outside America, you can just download the whole game and manual from the website. It took me around 12hrs to download the files and do all the updates needed. Over-all, the setup was pretty easy and surprisingly enough my little GeForce4 can handle the graphics ok. So most of Sunday I was defending the innocent and protecting the peace, all from my desk at home.
The game is perfect for superhero fanatics like myself, or any other closet geeks out there. The character setup is brilliant, enabling infinate choices of size, colours and power types – no secret identities though
. You can choose to do missions, or just run around beating people up at random. The best thing of all is that, when you don’t move your hero for about 10 seconds he stands chest out, fists to hips in true superhero fashion!! So tune in for the Adventures of “Captain Cod-Peice!” (I’m still working on names).
Finally I have an Ebay Feedback rating of 50.
It’s been a year now, a long time coming but – Hello Blue Star!!
To celebrate I have changed my user ID to something more appropriate and I may even do one of those “About Me” pages.
Sorry James! Thanks Dean!!
The company that brought us the Cabir.Worm Mobile Phone virus has now demonstrated it’s smart-arsiness by developing the first ever Pocket PC virus. This particular worm is not in the Wild, it was more of a “Nar Narny Nar Nar - Look what we can do” type production. When loaded it asks the user permission to spread throughout the PocketPC and via Bluetooth. View the article here.

I was back at Berwick today, trying to put some order into the chaos in Edrington’s IT system. This means I am back to the usual transport routine of dropping Mel off at the station and picking her up there at night. I got home waiting for Mel to call tonight but thankfully her Mum was kind enough to drop her home. Whenever Mel is able to get a lift from someone, that means only one thing for me … Complete and uninterrupted viewing of the corniest game show that I am embarrassed to be hooked on – “Deal or no Deal”
Why that show? Don’t ask me! All I know is that I am so into it now that I am able to predict the Bank offers and find myself yelling at my TV No Deal!! At the moment the contestant has an offer of $12,345 but still has the $200,000 on the board. No Deal!! Gotta go it’s getting exciting now.
UPDATE:
The guy settled for $21,300 and missed out on $106,000!!!
He should have listened to me!
… don’t judge me.
Now your talking! Nintendo are pioneering a new Handheld gaming console which has … yep you guessed it! … Two Screens. It is a clam-shell design and it features a touch screen at the bottom. James and I came accross this today at work whist checking out the website for our much awaited Sims2. The Sims people have already written a game for this new console called “Urbz“.
Keeping to true Nintendo fashion, the console will be backwards compatible to GBA and is due to be released later this year. Yay! Yet another gadget!!
There isn’t any information on Nintendo’s website but click here for a review.
